Podcast

"The End of All Things" was featured recently on the Ourobouros podcast. Colin had very kind things to say about us and we thank him greatly for that.

Letter To Pat Robertson

 Dear Reverend Robertson,

After hearing your words regarding the recent tragedy in Haiti, I felt the need to personally write you. This letter was not crafted from a specific political point of view; it comes purely out of compassion and concern from one soul to another.
Wednesday January 13th 2010 (no more than a day after the earthquake), on your program, you claimed that the Haitian people made a pact with the devil in order to gain independence from “the heel of the French” in 1804. According to you, ever since this pact, the country of Haiti has since been and is still being punished through poverty and natural disaster. I'm assuming that you believe God revealed this information to you. According to your baptist belief, God spoke to many prophets in the bible and chose to reveal himself in several different ways. My first question is how does God specifically speak to you? Second, how exactly did the Haitian people make a pact with the devil? Did they organize and form a contract which followed in a meeting and eventual signing with Satan himself? Did they each individually make an emotional pact with the devil? In short, I'm asking you to explain as specifically as possible your comments on this subject.

Throughout your career, you have discussed a myriad of prophecies that have continually failed to come true. Some of your predictions were described in so vague of terms that it would be impossible to determine the value of truth in them. You predicted the end of the world in the year 1982. You predicted that there would be a massive amount of American death in 2007 due to a terrorist attack. Needless to say, neither of these predictions came true. You also predicted “world wide violence” in 2008. I sincerely hope that you are already aware of the fact that all throughout the world, there has been and will always be violence. Predicting world wide violence is the equivalent of saying “tomorrow the earth will still be populated by humans”. My concerns on this subject stem from a deep need to understand why you feel that God reveals these prophecies solely to you? What have you obtained that warrants the trust of so many other human beings? “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world”. (1 John 4:1) I hope for your sake that you are not a false prophet, though that judgment is not entirely up to me.

What are your predictions for the many Haitians that returned to their neighborhoods to find destroyed homes and belongings? The people that when faced with such grief and horror still got down on their knees and thanked God for their lives. Yet, you truly believe they are being punished for decisions made over two hundred years ago before the current population was alive to have any say in the matter. Is it possible that these people possess an understanding of the world around them that you could never appreciate or comprehend? Why would your God of infinite love desire tragedy for a specific group of people? Are we not all loved the same? Should you not respond to the people of Haiti with compassion and kindness, rather than these mendacious accusations? How arrogant of you to claim that these people need to be turned toward your Christian God, a God that you clearly have no understanding of.

Maybe I'm wrong about all of this and you enjoy being controversial. Maybe your just an old man whose reasoning faculties fail to filter out any of the sadistic thoughts that all too often seep out into your dialogue. You may not be at fault for all that you say. If you still retain some form of control over your thoughts, then I suggest you humble yourself to the point of shame and ask your God for forgiveness. If you are more than an animal with a language, you should feel only sympathy for the poor people that need our help right now. If at the end of all of this there is divine judgment that decides our fate based on our choices and your Christian beliefs are the truth, then I'm afraid you are in grave danger. Regardless of whether you are a fraud or a true believer, bite your tongue in the future. Especially if you feel the need to speak judgment of others the day after their own tragedy.

Sincerely,
Kyle Preston
